We will be posting tutorials in this thread. Just ask anything and we'll try to make a tutorial about it if words aren't enough to answer it. You could also ask for some tips & techniques on how we animate a specific animation.

TUTORIALS:
Boning Tutorial --- Ren
Stand Tutorial --- Ren
Advanced Walk(Run) Tutorial --- Ren
Punching Tutorial --- Ren
Footing Tips --- Gwapogi

I'd like to learn, but I'm really short on time. Maybe I could send you some of my animation atempts, and ask few questions about why some animations are different in MDLvis and the world editor, and such?

Just post them here instead of sending them to me, so your "classmates" or maybe my "co-teachers" can help you too. Anyway, it happens sometimes. You just need to edit that part which seems different in the World Editor, cause that's what I do. I sometimes redo that frame or re-Copy + Paste it..if you get what I mean.

I tried to bone and animate this model, and the head moves unnaturaly in Magos and World Editor...

It might be also a bonning problem since I'm a beginner, so I'm really not good at all, but same problem seems to repeat.

I tried animating before and same thing happened, head, hand or some other part would move unnaturaly.

About the walk, just do what I said on my previous post. Regarding the Stand animations, don't use that breathing technique, it's unrealistic. And also, Stand 1 and 2 should have the same First and Last frames.

Thanks guys, I'll try it.
The main bone should be located beneath the model, right?

The Main bone or Root bone can be anywhere, but I suggest you put it in the middle, maybe in the crotch.

I wouldn't mind if you'll be my only student.lol But it will be better if guys like Trollzor, Daisy, and Dennis will be attending to. They already know how to animate, but I'm pretty sure I can help them become better.

Anyway, for those who want, try this one first so I can see your animating skills. That way, it will be easier for me to tell which part of the animation that a certain person needs improvements. As for me, I am weak in animating Attacks.

ANIMATE: Leaf Ninja (Download the Attachment below, it's already boned.)

:finger-point: Instruction: Add the necessary animations that a creep model needs.
- Stand/Stand Ready
- Walk
- Attacks 1 & 2
- Death
- Decay/Dissipate

:finger-point: TIPS:
- A normal Stand is not necessary for creeps. The Stand Ready can be the Stand itself.
- Minimize the number of Attacks, just a maximum of 3. Too much Attack variation consumes time and frames.
- STAND/STAND READY = 1000 frames.
- WALK = 600-800 frames.
- Decay is more befitting for a creep, but you can add Dissipate instead if you want.
- Attack 1 = Punch/Slash
- Attack 2 = Kick/Thrust

Hey Gwap? How do you get foot anchors to work properly, I'm not sure if I'm following Judash's tutorial correctly.

Maybe a little help?

Check this Xion. I edited Attack 1 and fixed the foot anchor. Compare it to yours.
One way to improve is to check and compare your animations with other's animations.
You can see that the left foot doesn't change it's place when it attacks, which Judash calls "Foot anchor".

Tip: Click "Aea" on the Menu bar and tick XY-grid if you still haven't. It makes Foot anchoring easier because it is used as a guide. You could also use the edge of the screen as a guide to anchor the foot on a certain place. Check this video: http://www.mediafire.com/download/bwh2mx18ubhojbe/anchor.mp4

Here's a simple one. If you don't get something, I'll try to add more pictures.
Note: This is for those animators who doesn't use the X,Y,Z Panel on the Right side.

Oh, and an addition. If the XY-grid is visible, as much as possible, always align the foot flat on the floor (XY-grid). Because if the foot is not aligned like this:

That part will be submerged in-game.

Boning is easy. No teachings needed on that one. It's just trial and error. Bone a part then try to move the mesh. If it looks bad, move the bone and try to move it again and again until you find the perfect place where the mesh will move smoothly.

Anyway, OrganizationAllNoob is a girl..so she's a HER.
