halo wars?; can we get models out of halo wars?

are we able to rip any models from halo wars?

if so i could use covenant models, sentinel models, flood models.
i already have some of each of those groups...
but i still need:

Hunters, brutes, honorguard, arbiter, cheiftan, prophet, engineer, covenant buildings?

super sentinel

flood buildings, combat form

Halo wars would be a good port for Wc3, since it has a very similar style & gameplay to Wc3. Problem with finding rippers to port HW, is its an under-rated and overpriced priced game for a specific fan base. If I keep seeing Halo requests, I might just have to put the games on top of my porting schedule, otherwise new content (at least from me) will be in a few months.

GJ Dennis, that place is a good place to start. If people want to convert Halo Models and don't own the games, then go here. If someone wants to work on HW go here and HW2 here. But, there are reasons most rippers are not working on this.

well i followed the link to a nice hunter model from halo 3 using a converter i was able to convert obj to mdx but i cant open that conversion in mldvis

no sure why, it says "range check error". when i open it in wc3model editor. i can't see the model but when i go to the mdleditor tab i could. so not sure

it's behaving this way. maybe i will get it to work, but for now I'm out of steam.

When converting for post work in Mdlvis you need bones and for the vertices to be attached to them or you'll get that error. You can struggle in Mdlvis to create a new bone, by going to sequences and then clicking the "Create" tab then "Bone".

You'll get errors, just click ok and it should eventually work. Once you have a bone, select all the geosets (drag down with the mouse holding the left button on it) so that all the geos light up Red. Above the word "Geosets" on the right que there are some buttons. Click on the bottom right one that says "Reattach vertices".

Save the model as a new mdx. Load that and the error should no longer happen. After that you are going to have to add bones + animations. We have a great tutorial section here and youtube videos that show how to animate in Mdlvis.
